RESEARCH INTERESTS

1. Movement disorders & Electrophysiology
Clinical neurophysiology, especially movement electrophysiology and evoked potentials using various electrophysiologic methods are main interest in our research fields. Clinical neurophysiology is an area of medical practice focused primarily on measuring function in the central and peripheral nervous system including the autonomic nervous system. We focused on central evoked potentials such as Bereitschaftpotential, N30, Negative contingent potentials, and cortical excitability in patients with parkinson¡¯s disease or other movement disorders for measuring function and evaluation of pathophysiology. Other interests are on the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. We plan to evaluate the effect of chronic application of repetitive magnetic stimulation in patient with depression and Parkinsonian symptoms. Currently, I am interested in the pathogenesis of Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep behavior disorders, especially abnormal movements. The incidence of abnormal movements such as RBD and parasomnia, movements without atonia during REM sleep in Parkinson¡¯s disease are very high. My major concern is the pathogenesis and semiology of RBD, sleep problems in patients with parkinsonian symptom.
